’Towards Light’ Album Review - Music-News.com Nov 2007

So what have we here? 7 track mini-album featuring ex-schoolfriends who were into doing all the wrong things, such as listening to John Peel and playing guitars instead of doing their homework. And they sound very indie, very together and very young and there's something else – I can't put my finger on it – they don't actually sound like anyone else at the moment and they start my foot tapping and I'm playing air drums on the dashboard. This is rather fun.

Actually this is a really fine sounding band. Ollie's vocals, lots of passion and good tempo; Phil's guitar work is surprisingly musical, as is Dan's; Seamus's drums going off in every direction like a box of fireworks but somehow on the beat. Wow, they really are pretty good and I can imagine this bunch being a right storm live.

So the North has another good new band to its name and my listening just got a fresh start and I'm looking forward to their first full album release. Well, I didn't expect that when I put this on and that's for sure.
